5 reasons to visit the Veluwe

The Veluwe is one of the most beautiful places in The Netherlands and is definitely worth visiting (again). The Veluwe has to much to see to only visit one day, so why not stay for a few nights? These are the 5 best reasons to stay on the Veluwe for a weekend, a week or longer.

1. Endless routes for cycling and hiking

The Veluwe is the bigest nature reserve of the Netherlands. You will find forests, heathlands, sand drifts and watchtowers. If you love to be active and being outside, the Veluwe is the perfect place for you! We have multiple different walking and cycling routes available at the reception, ready for you to explore. Did you not bring your own bike? No problem, we have tons of bikes for rent at the reception!

2. The Veluwemeer

Swimming, surfing, exercising next to the water? All of it is possible on the Veluwe. The Veluwemeer is a long lake that originated in 1956 when they started making the eastern part of our youngest province, Flevoland. At the Veluwemeer, you will find several beaches where you can relax with a good book, rent a boat to explore the Veluwemeer from the water, or choose a bit more of a challenge and take surfing lessons at Strand Horst.

3. Relaxation

The Veluwe is the perfect place to unwind. The chirping birds and the green surroundings, make you feel relaxed and gives you the perfect opportunity to unwind. Just outside the park you will find the beautiful forests, the perfect place to go for a walk and explore the Veluwe.

Did you know that the highest point in the Veluwe is at a 110 meters?
The total area of the Veluwe nature reserve is 912 km²
The Veluwe is more than 150.000 years old

5. Attractions

Besides the endless cycling and hiking options, there are more fun activities on the Veluwe, for the whole family. This makes the Veluwe a perfect place to visit for young and old. Discover the history of the Dutch Royal Family in 'Paleis Het Loo'. Enjoy a trip with the youngest family members to Julianatoren or the Dolfinarium, walk through the Apenheul, or climb the Bostoren on Estate Schovenhorst in Putten for a spectacular view!
